Highlights About This Fantastic Evening

October 21st, 2021 | 6 pm-10 pm
Columbia Museum of Art
1624 Main Street, Columbia, SC
Presented by Southeastern Freight Lines

Transitions Homeless Center’s signature fundraiser, Reconstructing Home, is returning to the Columbia Museum of Art on October 21, 2021. The theme for this year’s event is “10 years later...and the journey continues,” reflecting the fact that 2021 marks the 10th anniversary of the opening of Transitions Homeless Center. It’s totally appropriate that the official “gift” for a 10th anniversary is something made of tin. Tin symbolizes flexibility and durability…two words that perfectly reflect Transitions Homeless Center, it’s staff and the clients it has served for ten years and counting.

The evening will again feature art created by current and past residents of the Center. Participating client artists will be in attendance share their journey with guests, and will receive a commission on each piece of their art that is sold during the event. The client art will be on exhibit at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport, starting in mid June.

In addition to the client art that will be available for purchase, the silent auction will offer an impressive array of items, including a catered dinner for 12 prepared in your own home, unique vacation packages and one-of-a-kind experiences, and much more. Auction items will be available online for previewing and early bidding. Many silent auction items and client art will come with a guaranteed “Buy Out” price to allow someone to purchase the item immediately if a bidder sees an item they cannot live without or if they need the item before Oct. 21.

In addition to music by Prettier Than Matt, the evening will feature great food and some special highlights to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Transitions Homeless Center. Reconstructing Home is a unique evening that celebrates the strength of our community and the 350 homeless men and women who seek help at Transitions on a daily basis.

Attendees of Reconstructing Home will also have the opportunity to explore the permanent exhibits at the museum.
